In 1918, Enrico Caruso said to Rosa Ponselle that a singer must have something here (pointing to her forehead), here (pointing to her throat), and here (pointing to her heart). When I think of this quote, I think inevitably about Neil Shicoff. And in 2006, the late Giorgio Tozzi said to me, "Neil Shicoff has one of the most exciting voices of his generation." Now, Maestro Shicoff will sing for you, "Parmi veder le lagrime" from Rigoletto (recorded live at the Metropolitan in New York, 1977).
