Salad with white balsamic

This is one of my favorite salads. You can't imagine the wonderful fragrance and taste of the orange blossom honey balsamic!

  • Romaine lettuce
  • radicchio
  • Belgian endive
  • fennel
  • white raisins
  • pistachios
  • extra-virgin olive oil
  • white balsamic vinegar infused with orange blossom honey
  • salt & pepper

  1. Sounds delicious. Funny, I never knew there was such a thing as white balsamic vinegar. I'll look out for it. Taste like the 'regular' balsamic variety?

    1. You know, lots of people don't know about it -- yet lots of supermarkets carry it! That's the strange thing. I don't know how the supermarkets are making money on it. But I'm not complaining! To answer your question: yes, it still "tastes like a balsamic." But for salads, the color itself is enough reason to avoid the regular balsamic. I just adore these "white" salads with white grapes, white balsamic, pistachios (almonds, whatever you like), and of course you can also put a wonderful cheese on top like pecorino, gorgonzola, whatever you like. As for these flavored balsamics, naturally a little goes a long way. But I find the orange flavor is perfect for a salad -- after all, with what meal does citrus NOT go? But that's my Sicilian half speaking.
