Solo un giorno dopo la morte del grandissimo Andrea Camilleri, abbiamo perso un altro grandissimo scrittore meridionali.  Luciano De Crescenzo ci ha lasciato, a un mese dal suo 91° compleanno. L’ha detto meglio la persona sui social che ha scritto, "Se ne va un pezzo di Napoli." Nato nel quartiere Santa Lucia di Napoli il 20 agosto 1928, De Crescenzo è diventato famoso nel 1977 con il suo best seller Così parlò Bellavista, una raccolta di aneddoti sulla sua amata Napoli, che vendette oltre 600 mila copie. Nel corso degli anni, De Crescenzo è diventato un autore di successo internazionale. I suoi 44 libri (tutti pubblicati da Mondadori) hanno venduti 30 milioni di copie, tradotte in 25 paesi in 21 lingue. De Crescenzo ha avuto particolare successo nel consegnare la filosofia al grande pubblico con i suoi libri. Negli anni ’80 ha debuttato come attore in Il pap’occhio, una commedia diretta da Renzo Arbore e interpretato dall'attore premio Oscar Roberto Benigni. De Crescenzo, che aveva abbandonato la professione di ingegnere per la cultura, è morto al Policlinico Gemelli dove era stato ricoverato. Renzo Arbore e Marisa Laurito, amici stretti dello scrittore, erano con lui in ospedale – secondo quanto si apprende – accompagnandolo fino alla fine. De Crescenzo è morto oggi intorno alle ore 16.00. Domani, venerdì 19 luglio, sarà allestita nella Sala della Protomoteca in Campidoglio la camera ardente di De Crescenzo. L'apertura al pubblico è dalle 10 alle 20. Only one day after the death of the great Andrea Camilleri, we lost another great Southern Italian writer. Luciano De Crescenzo has left us, one month shy of his 91st birthday. No one said it better than the person on social media who wrote, "A piece of Naples is gone." Born in the Santa Lucia district of Naples on August 20, 1928, De Crescenzo became famous in 1977 with his best seller Così parlò Bellavista ("Thus spoke Bellavista"), a collection of anecdotes about his beloved Naples, which sold over 600,000 copies. Over the years, De Crescenzo became an internationally successful author. His 44 books (all published by Mondadori) have sold 30 million copies, translated in 25 countries in 21 languages. De Crescenzo was particularly successful in delivering philosophy to the general public with his books. In the 1980s he made his acting debut in Il pap’occhio ("In the Pope's eye"), a comedy directed by Renzo Arbore starring Oscar-winning actor Roberto Benigni. De Crescenzo, who had abandoned the engineering profession for the arts, died at the Policlinico Gemelli where he had been hospitalized. Renzo Arbore and Marisa Laurito, close friends of the writer, were with him in the hospital. (According to reports, they were with him to the end.) De Crescenzo died today at around 4.00 pm.
