Tosti XVI

Il poeta Domenico Milelli (che scrisse sotto il pseudonym "Conte di Lara") morì a Palermo nel 1905. L'anno seguente, Tosti compone questa bellissima romanza. La dedicò al suo amico e collega, il grande Enrico Caruso. Qua ascoltiamo un'interpretazione di un altro grande tenore, Carlo Bergonzi, che ci ha lasciato il 25 luglio.

The poet Domenico Milelli (who wrote under the pseudonym "Conte di Lara") died in Palermo in 1905.  The following year, Tosti composed this beautiful romanza. He dedicated it to his friend and colleague, Enrico Caruso.  Here we listen to a performance by another great tenor, Carlo Bergonzi, who left us on July 25th.
